First up, in our new commercial landscape series – we’re looking at the shifts in recreation spaces and the future directions for activity spaces like gyms and boutique fitness platforms.

A California mindset inspired by outfitters like Vuori is bringing a new vibe to fitness related spaces focused on California coastal lifestyle activities.

A general move towards longevity is taking shape in the form of softer spaces like this Tai Chi Studio and Tea Bar.

We’re also seeing a shift towards anti-tech workouts and exercises. Props like the Shakti Acupressure Pillow serve as an antidote to modern living.

Summer School-Maxine’s Picks

My summer favorites are volunteering at 5 Loaves @ Fish where we make fresh and almost gourmet homecooked meals for people in need. This summer I am working three days per week at a local winery Dune Bird.  It’s a boutique winery with a focus on the customer and the experience which is everything Sphere does every day.  My favorite current routine is sitting every evening in our Adirondacks to watch the sunset over the Manitou Islands in Lake Michigan. It’s my favorite part of my day. “
