Brand as Comfort Food

By Emily Siwek, Sphere Trending Trend Futurist, Director of Architectural Design

We’ve just returned from Neocon, the leading commercial furniture fair in the US and pouring over the information, insights and photos we captured on site. Neocon is a great show for unearthing new shifts in “Brand Archeology”. Over the next couple of months, we’re going to feature some of the interesting new ways brands are pivoting toward the future.

Martin Brattrud, a Southern California furniture brand had an interesting way of debuting their new banquette at the show by comparing it to comfort food. Let’s dig in! Here’s what they had to say:

COMFORT FOOD

Go ahead and take an extra helping. Simple ingredients in generous proportions are a recipe for banquette bliss. Introducing the Del Amo banquette. As always, handmade in Southern California.”

Instant Ambiance

A hot item at the Spring 2024 High Point Market was portable lighting. Cool, cordless lamps were popping up everywhere from vendors like Pooky Lighting, Tov, and Visual Comfort. Even the outdoor environment showcased portable lanterns as part of Arteriors new outdoor collection. These small accents make a big impact adding coziness to spaces.

Home Away From Home

By Riann Henkel, Sphere Trending Trend Futurist, Director of Interior Home

At Sphere Trending, we keep our eyes on all aspects of design from Residential to Architecture to Commercial Design – and this commercial design project stopped us in our tracks. Resimercial (the blending of residential design into commercial spaces) is not a new conversation. But this LSU Locker room project from Designer Wendy Sharp and Artistic Tile took Resimercial design to another level… a level perfect for national champions. We’ve been just as captivated by NCAA ladies basketball as the rest of the country, so seeing sports, resimercial design and elevated luxe blend together so perfectly was inspiring.

Color is a Catalyst

Lori Salem, Sphere Trending Market Research & Trend Analyst

A new home philosophy – color is acting as a catalyst for change! This was evident at the latest KBIS and IBS shows in Las Vegas, NV where we saw fresh shades of green bring color to kitchen and bath products.

Romancing the Home

By Emily Siwek, Sphere Trending Trend Futurist, Director of Architectural Design

A new home philosophy is emerging around romanticizing the home – represented in the treatment of interiors and exteriors embracing more decorative details and within the everyday elements of home.

Two new collaborations exemplify this trend – the new Bridgerton collection for Ruggable, based on the strikingly decorative and romantic Netflix series, and Erin Featherston’s collection for Anthropologie that is whimsical and fairytale-esque.
